A public forum for candidates vying for a seat in the Surrey-White Rock riding during this October's provincial election will be held next week.
Hosted by the South Surrey-White Rock Chamber of Commerce, White Rock Business Improvement Association (BIA) and the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, the all-candidates meeting will "provide a valuable opportunity for residents to hear directly from the candidates, learn about their platforms, and engage with local issues," reads a release.
Residents from all over B.C. will take to the polls on Oct. 19 to make their voices heard for the provincial election.
In the Surrey-White Rock riding, some well-known names are on the ballot.
Incumbent MLA Trevor Halford, who is now running in the Conservative Party of BC, has been confirmed, along with Scott Kristjanson from the Green Party and NDP candidate Darryl Walker.
Questions for the candidates are being accepted by the public, with a deadline of Sept. 13 at noon, with submissions able to be made online at forms.gle/RpLAvFFzGRs9nqkWA or through email at info@sswrchamber.ca
The forum will take place at White Rock Community Centre on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m., with opening statements, a moderated Q&A session with pre-selected questions and closing statements from each candidate. There will not be an open Q&A session from the public, the press release notes.
"It’s an excellent opportunity for community members to be informed and hear the candidates’ stances on key local topics impacting Surrey-White Rock," the release says.
