Gurjot Bhatti, 20, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, fleeing from police and driving while disqualified in connection with a stolen auto investigation by Surrey Mounties.
Cpl. James Mason said the Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Team responding to a report of a stolen vehicle on June 11 tracked it from Surrey to Richmond, where it was abandoned. He said police "initially located both the vehicle and driver stopped in Surrey, and as officers gave arrest commands, the driver reportedly fled in the vehicle."
The alleged driver was arrested nearby, Mason said.
Bhatti is being held in custody pending a court appearance.
