Highway 17 in Surrey re-opens after two-car collision

Police say that one of the drivers was trapped and had to be "extricated by Surrey Fire Service."

Two people were taken to the hospital with serious but "not life-threatening" injuries, police say.

Surrey Police Service responded to a call of a two-car collision in the 13600 block of Highway 17 in Whalley around 6 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 1).

Police say that one of the drivers was trapped and had to be "extricated by Surrey Fire Service." The drivers were the lone occupants of both vehicles.

The Surrey Police Service had closed Highway 17 in the 13600 block for a short time Saturday morning. DriveBC noted the road was open again around 8 a.m. 

The cause of the crash is unknown as the investigation is in its early stages, Houghton said.

Police ask anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-9142 (SP).
