A man is dead after he was hit by a truck in front of Surrey Memorial Hospital in Whalley Friday (Sept 15), police say.
The truck was travelling east on 96 Ave towards 137 Street late Friday night when the crash happened, according to a Black Press freelancer at the scene.
BCEHS paramedics performed CPR on the man before transporting him to Surrey Memorial Hospital in “grave condition,” the freelancer said.
The pedestrian died from his injuries. The collision has been determined to be an apparent suicide, Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt Brad Essex said in an email to the Now-Leader.
Surrey RCMPs Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating the collision. The BC Coroners Service was also on the scene.
