An event advertised as Western Canada's largest halal food festival is taking place in Surrey this weekend, June 20-22.
Over 100 businesses, including food trucks, tents, and market vendors, participated in the event. The food vendors are serving everything from tasty Dubai chocolate and strawberries to smash burgers and so much more.
The festival also featured amusement park rides and games, as well as live entertainment on the main stage in the evenings.
No pork is served at the annual festival, according to Islamic dietary laws that dictate whether food is “halal,” or permissible. Pork is among foods not allowed.
The 2025 BC Halal Food Fest runs until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
