Surrey Knights scored first and added three more goals to beat Langley Trappers 4-1 in the opening game of their Survivor Series in the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL).
Wednesday night's game (Feb. 12) was played at George Preston Recreation Centre, and tonight (Thursday) the action shifts to North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex, where the Knights can clinch the best-of-three series with a home-ice win, 7 p.m. puck drop.
In Langley, Surrey goals were scored by Nathaniel Marvin Danielson, Bronson Sales, John Lopez and Wesley Rowley, while Ian Burns got the lone Trappers goal.
In net for the Knights, Koen St. Hilaire was named first star of the game for stopping 32 of 33 shots.
If necessary, Game 3 of the series will be played Friday in Langley, 7 p.m. start.
After 48 regular-season games, the Knights finished 10 points behind the Trappers in the Harold Brittain Conference.
The playoff series winner will face top-ranked Ridge Meadows Flames. The other conference battle will have Chilliwack Jets trying to soar above Abbotsford Pilots.
In the PJHL's Tom Shaw Conference, Port Coquitlam Trailblazers face North Vancouver Wolf Pack in a Survivor Series playoff for the right to face #1-seed Delta Ice Hawks. The other series will see White Rock Whalers play Richmond Sockeyes.
