Western Community College's health care programs cater to a wide range of students — from internationally trained professionals re-entering the field to high school graduates seeking fast, focused education.

As British Columbia’s demand for skilled health care professionals continues to grow, Western Community College (WCC) is opening doors for students eager to step into meaningful, stable careers in the health and wellness sector. Whether you're a career changer, a new graduate or a working parent looking for a flexible path, WCC’s Pharmacy Technician and Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) diploma programs are designed with you in mind.

Pharmacy technician diploma

Pharmacy technicians play a vital role in B.C.’s health care system, supporting patients through accurate dispensing, safe product distribution and education. WCC’s Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program provides students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to thrive in retail pharmacies, hospitals and long-term care facilities.

With a curriculum aligned with provincial standards and regulatory guidelines, students graduate prepared to meet the ethical, legal and safety expectations of the industry. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the College of Pharmacists of B.C. — a key step toward beginning their professional journey.

Registered massage therapy

For those passionate about wellness, physical health and making a difference in people’s lives, Western Community College’s RMT program offers a fast track into the world of therapeutic care. Delivered over six semesters, the program prepares students for the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC) board exams, covering everything from anatomy and physiology to clinical massage techniques and interprofessional collaboration.

Graduates have the flexibility to work in private clinics, spas, long-term care homes, sports organizations or even start their own practice. With hourly rates typically ranging from $60 to $80 — and the potential to earn even more in private or specialized settings  — a career as a registered massage therapist offers both personal satisfaction and strong financial rewards.
