Launching a bold new era for Western Community College, a special thanks goes to the community partners, industry leaders and students for coming together to celebrate this new era for WCC.

Every transformation starts with a bold vision, and at Western Community College, that vision has always centered on empowering students through purposeful, career-driven education.

For more than a decade, WCC has played a crucial role in shaping the futures of its students, ensuring they graduate with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in their careers. Now, as WCC embarks on an exciting rebrand, the institution is reaffirming its commitment to growth, inclusion and academic excellence.

"The rebrand was driven by the need to better represent who we are today, and who we are becoming," Gurpal Dhaliwal, President of Western Community College says. "As our college continues to grow, adding new campuses, launching programs in high-demand sectors like aviation, healthcare, hospitality and investing in infrastructure that fosters holistic student development; our identity needed to evolve in step with the College's ambitions. This transformation reflects both progress and purpose: to meet the needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s workforce with clarity, confidence and impact." By continuously evolving, WCC is positioning itself as a leader in higher education, equipping students with the tools they need to build successful, fulfilling careers.

With more than 65 undergraduate, postgraduate and bachelor’s programs, WCC prioritizes career readiness, aligning its curriculum with market demands to ensure graduates are job ready. This pragmatic approach has made WCC a key player in workforce development, strengthening both local communities and the broader economy.

At the heart of this transformation is a thoughtfully designed logo that embodies the core values of education and Canadian identity.

Featuring an open book to symbolize learning and a maple leaf to represent national pride, the logo reflects WCC’s values of academic excellence and community engagement. But the changes extend beyond aesthetics – this rebrand serves as an expansion beyond Surrey and Abbotsford, bringing WCC’s high-quality education to even more communities.

For students, this means greater access to in-demand programs; more flexible learning options and the development of new campuses that offer modern facilities, hands-on training, and direct pathways into the workforce. This expansion ensures more learners, regardless of location; can benefit from WCC’s mission of empowering futures through quality education.

With this new identity, the WCC celebrates the depth of our commitment to inclusion and respect. Looking ahead, the College's upcoming City Centre 5 campus reflects a vision to bring 700+ student housing units to empower learners and fuel community growth.

WCC is committed to shaping well-rounded professionals who not only excel in their fields but also contribute meaningfully to society. This philosophy aligns with the college’s role as a key driver of economic growth, notes Anita Huberman, WCC board chair. “We are not just an educational institution. We are a city-building force, driving economic development by aligning our programs with real-time industry needs.”

Western Community College's new chapter aims to transform lives through education. With a revitalized brand and an expanding reach, WCC is set to make an even greater impact, ensuring that students today become the leaders of tomorrow.
