Armed robbery at South Surrey bank

Man sprays people with mace before taking off with undisclosed amount of money.

A number of South Surrey bank patrons were treated for pepper-spray injuries following an armed robbery Thursday afternoon.

RCMP’s canine unit is on the scene attempting to track a suspect who entered the Scotiabank in the 2400-block of 160 Street and sprayed at least six people before taking off with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to Surrey RCMP, the robbery occurred just before 1 p.m. The suspect is described as a man covered “head-to-toe” in black, with a hoodie and bandana covering his face.

It is believed he fled the area on foot.

Police are currently trying to determine the suspect’s direction of travel and if there is a vehicle associated with the robbery.
