Police are investigating an assault and kidnapping case that reportedly occurred this week in Whalley.

On Thursday (May 26) at about 8:30 p.m., Surrey RCMP was called to a report of an assault and forcible confinement in the 10100-block Whalley Boulevard.

When police arrived, they found a man suffering from injuries and had him taken to hospital.

The initial investigation revealed that the incident took place at a nearby residence, and involved the victim being held against his will for a time.

One person is currently in police custody while officers continue to gather evidence and speak to possible witnesses in an effort to determine what occurred.

The victim has since been released from hospital with minor Early indications are that this was a targeted incident.
