Six sticks of dynamite seized

A man in northern B.C. received quite the surprise while doing some house work when he found what was believed to be dynamite in his crawl space.

Police said the incident happened on May 18 in 100 Mile House.

The homeowner reported it to local police who in turn reported the finding to the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) in Surrey.

Members of the EDU flew up immediately, attended the residence and confirmed it was an explosives. Six sticks of dynamite were seized, and officers safely disposed of the dynamite.

This is an example of how to appropriately deal with found explosives, police said in a news release.

If any one finds what they believe to be dynamite or blasting caps, they should call their local police as explosives can become very unstable if deteriorated and then moved.

The EDU is specially trained in how to deal and safely dispose of these items.
