Delta Coun. Sylvia Bishop is throwing her hat into the ring of provincial politics.
On Wednesday (Oct. 31), Bishop announced she will seek the NDP nomination for Delta-North.
Last week, current MLA Guy Gentner announced he will be retiring from politics. The 57-year-old has held the riding since May 17, 2005.
In a media release, Bishop cited affordability, health care and education as her top concerns for families in North Delta.
“As a city councilor, people know me as a fighter who stands up for people and the environment,” Bishop said. “But there are many issues facing families that can only be addressed at the provincial level."
Bishop was first elected to Delta council in November of last year.
