Surrey RCMP responded Sunday to a report of a body discovered in Bog Park.

Brendan Aditya Chand, 27, died of gunshot wounds, police say.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over a police investigation after a body was discovered in Surrey’s Bog Park on Sunday afternoon.

Surrey RCMP received a report of a body at 9740 130 St. and discovered a deceased male, who was apparently a victim of a gunshot wound.

IHIT has identified the victim as 27-year-old Brendan Aditya Chand.

Police received reports from witnesses who reported hearing gunshots in the area as early as 10:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. IHIT is asking anyone who may have information about this homicide to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448, or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or
