Cancer claims White Rock councillor Larry Robinson

WHITE ROCK — White Rock city councillor Larry Robinson has died.

An artist, personal trainer and civic politician who served on White Rock council for three years, Robinson was 65 years old when cancer claimed his life on Saturday afternoon.

"Larry was a passionate member for our community and a White Rock councillor for the past three years," said Wayne Baldwin, White Rock's mayor. "It will be impossible to replace Larry's spirit towards a better White Rock.

"He also showed a lot of personal courage when his tumour became visible," Baldwin added.

"Larry remained a strong advocate for our community when others may have backed away from public life."

The flags at all City of White Rock buildings are flying at half-mast in his memory. Messages of condolence are being received at city hall and are being forwarded to Robinson's family.

A celebration of Robinson's life will be held at the community centre on Monday, March 24, at 1 p.m. All are invited.
