Large crowds continue to celebrate Canucks games civilly at Central City and a busy corner in Newton.
Surrey’s official celebration site at Central City Plaza saw about 4,000 hockey fans on Saturday night, and slightly less than that on Monday evening, during the Canuck’s first loss in the Stanley Cup final against the Boston Bruins.
Police estimate there were about 5,000 people at 72 Avenue and Scott Road after the weekend game, and again, marginally fewer on Monday.
Except for the arrest of a drunk minor, who was released into the care of his parents, the crowds have simply been having a good time, say Mounties.
“Celebrants continue to enjoy themselves responsibly,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger.
“The residents of Surrey are really showing their true colours – how as a community they can come together and celebrate in an overwhelmingly positive manner.”
With the warm weather, police are expecting big crowds again tonight for Game Four.
