A Surrey man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault in 2012.

Timothy James Wyslouzil, 46, is accused of five counts, including sex assault causing bodily harm, using a weapon, choking and/or suffocating while committing sex assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats.

On a June evening that year, a 31-year-old woman was walking home from a friend’s house in Newton when she was attacked in the 13300 block of 68 Avenue.

Police say the victim does not know Wyslouzil.
