Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free a driver trapped in the cab of his truck after it crashed into a power pole in Newton on Monday.

The driver’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to Surrey RCMP.

The commercial truck was travelling north in the 12800-block of 84 Avenue Monday afternoon (Sept. 12) when it struck and knocked down a power pole. The cab suffered extensive damage, trapping the driver.

It took BC Hydro several hours to repair the damages.
