Cougar sighting puts Willoughby school on lockdown

A cougar was spotted prowling around R.C. Garnett Elementary just before noon. No further sightings of the cat since, say RCMP.

A cougar sighting prompted R.C. Garnett Elementary school to go on lockdown on Thursday at the lunchhour.

A cougar was sighted near R.C. Garnett Elementary school just before noon.

The sighting caused the school, located on 201 Street south of 72 Avenue, to be locked down for the lunch hour.

The RCMP said the lockddown has been lifted and there hasn't been any further sightings of the cat.

Last month,  a cougar has been spotted prowling throughout the area of 192 Street and 72 Avenue on the Surrey/Langley border multiple times.
