Surrey RCMP members walk along Colebrook Rd where two bodies were found dumped early wednesday morning.

The two bodies found in Colebrook Road this week have been identified.

At 2 a.m. Wednesday, police on patrol found the body of 54-year-old Brett Sheldon Lietz at 125A Street and Colebrook Road. A wider search with police dogs turned up the body of 40-year-old Nicole Madelynn Brochu.

Brochu had a criminal record between 1989 and 2003, while Lietz had no record at all.

The motive for the homicides are not known, however, Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is saying they were both likely shot at the location they were found.

“We do know the two victims were known to each other as they were living together as roommates. Our priority is to determine the details that led up to their murders and locate the person(s) responsible,” Pound said in a release.

The two bodies brings to four the number of people killed at that location in the last six weeks.

Pound said it's likely they are unrelated events.

“It’s very early to say conclusively that all of the four victims found at this location are unrelated to each other, however, the flow of evidence to date supports the theory that they are not connected and only one of the victims had gang connections,” she said.

Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts said she's met with representatives from the bylaw and engineering departments, police and residents of the area, and will develop a coordinated plan to make the area safer.

That may include installing closed circuit TV cameras and lights around the "hot spots."

IHIT is asking anyone with information to contact the IHIT tipline by calling 1-877-551-4448(IHIT) or, if you wish to leave an anonymous tip call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
