A Delta Police officer has been charged with forgery in connection with prescription pain medication, just after returning to work from a medical leave.

The alleged offenses took place on Nov. 8, 2015 and were not related to Const. Geoffrey Young's duties as a police officer.

On Feb. 2, he was charged with forgery.

As the case is now before the courts, Delta Police say they will offer no further comment on the alleged incident.

Young is 38 years old and has been a member of the Delta Police Department since 2009.

At the time of the alleged offences he was performing administrative duties after a return from medical leave. Young remains on paid medical leave and a Police Act investigation is ongoing.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 5 in Surrey Provincial Court.
