Delta police are reminding parents and kids to stay safe after an 11-year-old girl was approached by a suspicious vehicle.

On March 7 at 3:15 p.m., the girl was approached by the driver of a beige Toyota Camry vehicle while walking home from school. The driver of the car pulled up to her at the corner of 118 Street and 74 Avenue, and offered her a ride.

When the girl said no, the driver pulled up his shirt to expose his chest. The girl ran, and the car did not pursue.

When police visited her residence, they learned there were two men in the vehicle. The driver was a non-white male in his thirties. The passenger in the rear was also non-white, although no other information about him was given.

No other incidents like this have been reported.

Police are taking this opportunity to remind residents to walk in pairs whenever possible and stay in well lit areas. When approached by a suspicious person or vehicle, draw attention to yourself and run to the nearest safe place.
