Delta school district still unsure on opening day

DELTA — With no definitive movement in the labour dispute yet, the Delta school district has asked parents and students to be prepared to return to class some time next week.

"Unfortunately, at this point we still do not know when school will start," superintendent Dianne Turner said in a letter to parents. "I apologize for not being able to provide you with more concrete information."

Turner added that while no deal has been reached yet, she remains hopeful that the two sides will come to an agreement over the weekend, enabling school to start next week.

The decision to open on Tuesday could come as late as Monday evening, the letter states.

"... We will communicate that information out as early in the evening as possible to give parents a chance to plan for Tuesday morning."

Updates will be posted to the district's website.
