SURREY — Police have found the owner of a stolen camera that was filled with wedding photos.

Surrey RCMP say the man, who they believe lives in the region, saw the photos in the news and was able to prove that the camera was his.

Police say the man was a guest at the wedding of a bride and groom from Quebec, whose photos were shared hundreds of times over social media in attempts to find the couple.

Surrey RCMP found the camera when they responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 1800 block of 160th Street on April 29th. The vehicle was filled with numerous pieces of lost or stolen property and one of the items was a DSLR camera with a SD card containing photos of a young couple’s wedding.

The camera’s owner has yet to pick up his camera from the police station.
