Drivers taken to hospital after head-on crash in Whalley

WHALLEY — Two drivers were sent to hospital after a head-on crash between a grey Toyota Corolla and a silver BMW SUV Monday afternoon in the 12200-block of 96th Avenue.

Surrey firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the Surrey man driving the car and Delta woman driving the SUV.

Both were unconscious after the crash and paramedics rushed both to Royal Columbian Hospital where they are being treated for injuries that weren't considered to be life threatening.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said impairment was not a factor in the crash.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team is leading the investigation, he added.
