ELECTION 2015: Surrey and Delta results in as Liberals form majority government

Justin Trudeau's Liberals take the country by storm.

About 800 Liberal supporters gathered at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Newton exploded into applause when TV news reports had the Liberals leading or elected in more than 170 polls across the nation – meaning a majority government is in reach.

The Liberals are leading or elected in 189 ridings so far. The Conservatives are leading in 103,the NDP have 35 and Greens have one.

Sukh DhaliwalSURREY-NEWTON

The battle for Surrey-Newton is between incumbent Jinny Sims (NDP), Sukh Dhaliwal (Liberal), Harpreet Singh (Conservative) and Pamela Sangha (Green).

Dhaliwal has won the riding by 1,925 votes.

Randeep SaraiSURREY CENTRE

Vying for this riding are incumbent Jasbir Sandhu (NDP), Sucha Thind (Conservative), Randeep Sarai (Liberal), Jeremiah Denault (Green) and Iqbal Kahlon (Communist).

Sarai has won by 2,054 votes.

Ken HardieFLEETWOOD-PORT KELLS

Incumbent Nina Grewal (Conservative) takes on Ken Hardie (Liberal), Garry Begg (NDP) and Richard Hosein (Green).

Hardie has won the riding, ousting Grewal by more than 3,000 votes.

SOUTH SURREY-WHITE ROCK

Former Surrey mayor Dianne Watts (Conservative) is looking for a win over Judy Higginbotham (Liberal), Pixie Hobby (NDP), Larry Colero (Green), Bonnie Hu (Libertarian) and Brian Marlatt (Progressive Canadian).

Watts won the riding by 1,400 votes.

John AldagCLOVERDALE-LANGLEY CITY

Candidates in this riding are Dean Drysdale (Conservative), John Aldag (Liberal), Rebecca Smith (NDP) and Scott Anderson (Green).

Aldag has won the riding by 2,269 votes.

Carla QualtroughDELTA

In Delta, the candidates are incumbent Kerry-Lynne Findlay (Conservative), Carla Qualtrough (Liberal), Jeremy Leveque (NDP) and Anthony Devellano (Green)

Qualtrough has won the riding by 2,587 votes.
