Fire guts home in Surrey's rural Port Kells neighbourhood

5378img-4786s

SURREY — Two people were treated for smoke inhalation and one of them suffered a minor burn to his leg as a two-storey house in Port Kells went up in flames on Saturday night (Nov. 15).

The fire happened at 7:30 p.m., at 9109 189th Street. Surrey Deputy Fire Chief Dan Barnscher said the fire's cause has yet to be determined but investigators do not consider it suspicious.

Eleven fire trucks – five water trucks among them, given the rural location – were called to fight the fire.
