A former corrections officer accused of smuggling contraband to inmates at Surrey Pretrial Centre pleaded guilty in court Thursday.

Sedrick Dang, 26, allegedly accepted bribes to deliver things like a screwdriver, steroids and a cell phone to prisoners between March 2011 and November 2012. He was charged with four offences in March 2013.

On July 5 in Surrey Provincial Court, the Burnaby man pleaded guilty to two of the charges – accepting a bribe as an officer and breach of trust by a public officer.

The Surrey Pretrial facility, located near 144 Street and 57 Avenue, houses accused offenders while they await trial.

Dang was suspended from his job at the time of his arrest. He is due back in court on Sept. 19.
