Langley teen dead after vehicle collision with dump truck in Delta

The 17-year-old died on scene and the 23-year-old driver is in hospital

A 17-year-old male from Langley is dead after the Pontiac Spitfire he was riding in collided with a dump truck yesterday.

A 17-year-old Langley boy was killed and a 23-year-old woman, also from Langley, is in serious condition after a crash involving a tandem dump truck and a vehicle in Delta on Wednesday, July 6.

Around 9 a.m., Delta Police responded to a collision between a tandem dump truck and a passenger vehicle in the 9800 block of Ladner Trunk Road. As a result of the collision, the dump truck rolled over onto the vehicle, crushing the black Pontiac Sunfire. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

The  17-year-old passenger died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The 23-year-old driver of the Pontiac was transported to hospital with serious injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, said Delta Police.

Police still aren't sure how the crash happened.

As part of the investigation, Delta Police Traffic Section investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.
