SURREY — One person died in a crash between an SUV and a pickup truck on Highway 1 at 176 Street in Surrey Friday night.

Preliminary investigation suggests that an eastbound pickup truck crossed the median and collided head on with a westbound SUV, B.C. RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Annie Linteau said in a news release.

The 29-year-old driver of the SUV died.

The driver of the pickup suffered some injuries and has been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the crash and asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call Port Mann Highway Patrol at 604-526-9744.

This is the second fatal crash Surrey highways this week. On Tuesday, a Surrey woman was killed after a tractor trailer and her car collided at the intersection of Highway 10 and 168th Street.
