Man accused of chucking knife runs into Surrey cop

SURREY — Now that’s timing.

Police say a man chucked a knife at another man, cutting his back as the victim tried to run away after a fight in a parking lot in Whalley on Monday morning.

Both men ran straight into a police officer who was in the area on another matter.

“This was a total fluke,” Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said. "It's Whalley — there's cops everywhere,"

One man was arrested and charges are being contemplated, while the other received stitches.

This happened a few minutes before noon, near 102nd Avenue and 136th Street.
