A 23-year-old Surrey man with several outstanding warrants was caught in the act of breaking into vehicles at the Carvolth park and ride on Friday, Feb. 6.
Officers from Langley's Street Enforcement Unit caught the man in the act shortly after 11 a.m. Once the officers identified themselves there was a short foot chase and the suspect was apprehended, said Cpl. Holly Marks.
Police found that the suspect is linked to 10 other vehicles broken into that day at Carvolth. In three of the vehicles, the ignition was damaged, leading police to believe he intended to steal them.
Some stolen property was found in the suspect's possession including a Bluetooth, garage door openers, and CDs. This property was seized by police for return to their owners, said Marks.
The Surrey man is currently being held in custody and charges are being recommended.
"We are frustrated with the consistently high number of property crimes in relation to autos in the Langleys. Langley RCMP will continue to strategically target locations where the reported thefts are at their highest," said Supt. Murray Power, Officer in Charge of the Langley detachment.
