A 37-year-old man attempting to cross into Canada was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Arch Port of Entry last Wednesday.

The man had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on charges of malicious mischief and criminal trespass, according to a CBP news release Monday morning.

The Alaskan native had been escorted back to Blaine by Canada Border Services Agency officers who noted he had an arrest warrant against him.

After CBP officers in Blaine learned the warrant was extraditable, they contacted the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, who subsequently took him into custody, according to the release.
