Steven Fayant, 23, of Port Coquitlam has been charged with aggravated assault

A man has been charged with a stabbing an acquaintance in Whalley this month.

At about 10:45 p.m. on Thursday (July 14), Surrey RCMP were called to reports of a stabbing in the 13300-block of Old Yale Road.

They arrived to find a 25-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police have now charged a man with stabbing the victim.

Steven Fayant, 23 years old of Port Coquitlam, has now been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Fayant remains in custody with his next court appearance July 22 at Surrey Provincial Court.

“Members of our General Investigation Unit led this investigation,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. “Their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail led to these two charges, and the investigation is now before the courts.
