Man dead, woman in serious condition after Surrey house fire

Police say this is a “non-suspicious death” and that Surrey RCMP are now assisting the Coroner with their investigation.

A man is dead and a woman is in serious condition after a fire in Surrey early Wednesday morning.

GUILDFORD — Police say a 55-year-old man is dead and a middle-aged woman is in hospital after a fire in Guildford early Wednesday morning.

The blaze is believed to have started just before 1 a.m. at a home in the 9000-block of 148th Street.

When police arrived they found the man suffering from burns and he was confirmed dead at the scene. The woman, who suffered smoke inhalation, was taken to hospital in serious condition.
