A man is dead following a workplace accident in Annacis Island Wednesday.
WorkSafeBC was called in to investigate the accident, after an employee of Van Wasteco Inc. apparently fell from the top of a rail car.
CPR was initiated at the time of his fall, but he died.
WorkSafeBC spokesperson Ally Skinner-Reynolds said it appears the man fell about 18 to 20 feet to the ground.
It is unclear what he was doing on top of the rail car.
“All we know is that he did fall, CPR was initiated, the worker was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” Skinner-Reynolds said.
The WorkSafeBC investigation continues.
