SURREY — A man wanted on more a dozen charges in connection to a series of corner store robberies was arrested at a Whalley home Monday.
Police say the Emergency Response Team (ERT) descended upon a house in the 12500-block of 96A Avenue around 4 p.m. Tuesday, along with the Surrey RCMP’s High Risk Target Team and Robbery Unit.
Stephen Cooper, 33, was arrested.
Several convenience stores were robbed in the fall of 2014. Cigarettes and lottery tickets were the main target. Police say the suspects were usually disguised and had weapons and sometimes drove vehicles through the front doors.
On Dec. 18, 2015, Surrey and Burnaby RCMP revealed charges had been laid against Tyler Ripolo of Burnaby, and Cooper.
Cooper faces numerous charges including two counts of robbery, three counts of break-and-enter, two counts of disguise with intent to commit an offence, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and more.
He remains in custody awaiting his first court appearance.
