McCallum might run again for Surrey mayoralty

SURREY — Former Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum is considering a reprise.

He served as Surrey mayor from 1996 to 2005, when he was defeated by Dianne Watts while seeking a fourth term. He’s thinking of running for the mayoralty again, he said.

"I haven't made a decision yet. I'm certainly thinking about it."

McCallum said he has given himself a two-week deadline “to say yes or no.”

It sounds like he's already stumping, though. He says he has "a real drive" to make Surrey better, is "a little upset with their finances" and has concerns about public safety.

"We need to address some of these problems," McCallum said.
