Mission RCMP search for gun-wielding bank robber

Man leaves with 'undisclosed amount of money' in traumatizing incident for RBC staff and customers

A dirtbike driver with a gun robbed a downtown Mission bank last Thursday morning (July 18).

According to a Mission RCMP news release, the man pulled a handgun and demanded money from the RBC on First Avenue before leaving with “an undisclosed amount of cash”.

The man fled on a dark-coloured, off-road-style dirtbike and was last seen driving eastbound on North Railway Avenue, per police.

“Investigators believe the man had been loitering in the area of the bank well before the robbery occurred,” Mission RCMP said.

No one was injured during the incident but police say it was a traumatizing incident for both staff and customers. The bank was closed during the aftermath yesterday but has since reopened.

The detachment released photos of the man and asked the public’s help to identify him.   During the robbery, he wore a motorcycle helmet, goggles and dark clothing.

Those with information or dash-cam footage of the bike are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
