Police are hunting for an Alberta murder suspect who might be here in Surrey.

Bith Gattang Chuol, 24, is wanted on outstanding warrants for first-degree murder, kidnapping, break-and-enter and extortion related to the September 2021 death of Vanessa Silva, 29, in Edmonton.

According to an RCMP press release the Strathcona County RCMP and Fire Services on Sept. 15, 2021 responded to a vehicle fire near Township Road 530 and Range Road 221 in Strathcona County and after putting the fire out, located Silva’s remains inside the vehicle.

“Investigators have reason to believe that Bith Chuol was in the Surrey area recently and may still be here,” Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, of the BC RCMP said. “If you see him, please call 9-1-1 immediately.”

Police describe Chuol as having a “dark complexion” with black hair and brown eyes, six feet four inches tall and 140 pounds.
