ROYAL HEIGHTS — Police and fire crews are currently attending the scene of an explosion at a house located in that 9700 block of Townline Diversion in Whalley.

According Curtis Harling of the Surrey RCMP media relations unit, emergency teams received a call at around 11:30 this morning with reports of an explosion nearby residence.

“Crews arrived on scene to find one person with various types of injuries and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Harling. “We’re still trying to determine if there are any other people associated with that residence and if anyone else had been injured by the explosion. At this point it’s just the one injury that we’re dealing with.”

When asked about the source of the blast, Harling said it was still to be determined but early signs point to the house being used as some sort drug-cooking operation.

Fire and police are still on scene and traffic in the area is being diverted at this time.
