A mother and son escaped a fire in their home on Morgan Creek Way in South Surrey early Monday morning.
But the house was significantly damaged, including collapse of most of the roof.
Both Surrey Fire and Surrey RCMP responded to the blaze shortly after 1 a.m., finding the house fully engulfed in flames, but the occupants outside and safe.
Surrey RCMP said early investigation indicated the fire was not suspicious in origin.
“It’s such a shame,” said a neighbour Tuesday morning. “They’re such a nice family.”
