SURREY - An elderly Surrey pedestrian struck down while walking in a marked crosswalk in Newton on Oct. 11 has died.

The 76-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition after a Honda Civic hit her at 140th Street and Bear Creek Drive at 8:30 a.m. Police have not released her name.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet said the driver, a 24-year-old Surrey man, stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police are looking for the occupants of two vehicles that were behind the Civic and had passed by it on the right side after the crash.

"They probably saw something that we need to hear," Paquet said.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
