Police say person found dead in Surrey home was likely murdered

IHIT called after first responders find ‘adult victim’ had injuries consistent with foul play

Police in Surrey say foul play is suspected after a person was found dead early this morning in Newton.

Surrey RCMP say the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating after first responders responded to a medical call and found an “adult victim” dead at a home in the 7000 block of 144A Street at about 1:30 a.m.

Police say the person had injuries “consistent with foul play.” RCMP haven’t released the victim’s age and gender and say the area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for an “undetermined amount of time.”

If confirmed as a homicide, this would be Surrey’s 15th homicide in 2018. At least nine of Surrey’s 2018 homicide victims had been shot.

In late November, Ranjeev Sangha, 41, was shot and killed in the 14600 block of Southview Drive.
