Surrey RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two separate suspects who allegedly committed robberies one day after the other in September of this year.
On September 19th, a male suspect is alleged to have entered a convenience store shortly after 6:00pm near the 6000 block of 196th Street in the Cloverdale area of Surrey. The suspect demanded cash and threatened the staff before making his getaway. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about 30 years old, tall, average build, with an evident tattoo on his right hand.
The suspect was wearing grey sweat pants and an orange hoodie with reflective and fluorescent markings. The suspect fled the scene in a late 2000’s silver SUV, possible a Toyota RAV 4.
One day later on September 15th, another robbery occurred at a restaurant in the 15100 block of 72nd Avenue in Newton. Again, the suspect demanded cash and threatened the staff. The suspect, a light skinned male, was last seen fleeing on foot west from the restaurant.
He was wearing blue jeans and a blueish grey coat with a hood. Nearby surveillance cameras captured the alleged suspect on video.
Surrey RCMP’s Robbery Unit is leading both investigations with assistance from the Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Service.
“Thankfully no one was hurt in these two robberies, which we believe were committed independently from each other,” said Corporal Scotty Schumann. “Robberies affect more than just the businesses that lose money; they also can be very traumatic for staff and witnesses involved in the events. Hopefully someone will have information that leads to the arrest of these two suspects.”
