CLOVERDALE — A vehicle crashing into a BC Hydro pole closed two blocks along 176th Street Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred at 62nd Avenue and 176th Street, police say.

“The pole is leaning,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann. “It’s quite risky to other motorists,”

Schumann said only one vehicle was involved and “appears to have hit a cement barrier and rolled into the pole.”

The road was closed between 62nd and 64th Avenues and police weren’t initially sure how long 176th Street would remain closed.

“It’s dependent on Hydro and when they can get here,” said Schumann Wednesday morning. “I imagine they’re quite busy,” he said, referring to power outages from the overnight windstorm.

It’s not believed that anyone was seriously injured in the crash, police say.
