Surrey RCMP have found the vehicle they believe was responsible for hitting a teen in his wheelchair.
On Nov. 9, Jonathan Forero, 19, was thrown three metres from his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Forero – who has brittle bone disease, which makes his bones extremely fragile – suffered multiple leg fractures and broken bones around his shoulder.
Police now say they have located the car that took off.
The discovery came after a member of the public tipped police to the whereabouts of a 2000 purple Honda Civic.
“Our request for assistance resulted in exactly the kind of outcome we hoped to receive from our community to assist our efforts,” said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet.
Police say the car was not stolen, and that they have spoken with the registered owner.
