Police are looking for teens they believe started a house fire in Fleetwood last month.

On April 23, at near midnight, a family in the 8300-block 151 Street were up watching TV when they heard someone outside and saw someone running from the house.

Moments later, they noticed the house was on fire.

The Surrey Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and no one was hurt.

However, Surrey RCMP say it might have been much different.

“Someone deliberately set fire to a residence where people were inside at the time,” said RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger. “Given the late hour, people could very well have been sleeping and had it not been for this family being up and watching TV, they may not have noticed the fire before it was too late.”

Interview with witnesses indicate there were two men at the house that night.

Police are looking for two males in their mid teens, wearing dark clothing. They are about 5'6" tall, with slim to medium builds.

Any witnesses that may have seen suspicious people in the area at the time are asked to contact the Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Section at 604-599-0502 or call Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477.
