Recreation admission fees rising in Delta

5378src-frontage-2011

DELTA — Indoor swimming, skating, hockey and gymnasium admission fees at Sungod as well as the South Delta Recreation Centre will steadily become more expensive over the next couple of years.

While single admissions for children, teens, young adults, adults, seniors and families will increase by 25 cents each year, from 2014 to 2016, the bite will be felt more in the bigger-ticket items, such as 12-month passes.

This year, such a pass for a child will cost $315 compared to $338 next year and $360 in 2016. Comparatively, for teens a 12-month pass will be $349, $376 and $394 and young adults will pay $385, $403 and $421. Adults will pay $513 in 2014, $540 in 2015 and $558 in 2016.

Seniors will pay $383 for a 12-month pass this year, $405 next year and $428 in 2016 while families will pay $1,142, $1,306 and $1,469.

Admission to the outdoor pools will remain unchanged, however, at $2.75 per person.

This past Monday Delta Council approved the fee changes by amending the municipality’s parks and recreation fees and charges bylaw.

A staff report states current operating costs, market conditions and inflation were considered in setting the new fee schedule.
