Rodeo draws 86,000 in Surrey

SURREY - Some 86,000 people took in the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair this year, with roughly 21,000 attending the rodeo shows.

 

Shannon Claypool, president of the Cloverdale Rodeo Exhibition Association, said all rodeo performances were nearly sold out.

 

"We were fortunate to have fantastic weather that brought out excited crowds throughout the entire long weekend."

 

This year's winners split $328,000 in prize cash. Caleb Bennett won the champion title in bareback riding, while Cody DeMoss won $20,000 and a trophy in the saddle bronc competition. Kelli Tolbert won the ladies barrel racing competition, scooping $21,400 in winnings, while Chris Roundy won the bull riding championship.
