Police are now looking for a second vehicle in relation to a homicide in Cloverdale on Monday (May 12).
Homicide investigators were first looking for a suspect believed to have fled in a blue 2010 Kia Borrego, later found on fire in South Surrey.
Police now believe Barry McQuarrie may be driving a stolen silver 2008 Toyota Highlander.
McQuarrie is currently wanted on a series of warrants unrelated to the murder.
On Monday, just before midnight, RCMP responded to a report of a man being shot at a home near 176 Street and 57 Avenue.
Gregory Quesnelle, 32, originally from southern Ontario, was found injured in the townhome and was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
The investigation is in the early stages, but police say the killing was not a random act and has no connection with gang or organized crime activity.
Police now believe the shooting was the result of an ongoing domestic dispute.
The two men are known to police, but investigators are still trying to determine if that is pertinent to their investigation.
McQuarrie has a long and varied history with the court system, including charges of violent offences, drug possessions, theft and break and enter.
The court website shows he has eight known aliases, including Nicholas Randell McQuarrie, Richard Laary, Barry Bayer, Bad Ass Barry, and just Badass.
"We're concerned, obviously, we think he's armed and dangerous," said Sgt. Adam MacIntosh, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
He has not been charged in relation to the Cloverdale homicide but he is a suspect.
The Cloverdale homicide was Surrey's third murder of the year, while two more deaths are still classified as suspicious and continue to be investigated. It was followed on Wednesday with a fatal stabbing in Kennedy Heights.
Anyone who sees the McQuarrie is urged not to approach him. Instead, call 911 immediately.
